I find that placing a story within a seasonal shift creates a feeling of change – fall moving into winter, spring melting into summer, summer hanging on too long and refusing to leave.

In both storytelling and knitting, pulling a loose thread – a dangling idea or stitch – can fix a mistake, reveal a connection or completely destroy something that needs a do-over.

Just think of what could happen if we all become a little more self-serving, a little more hedonistic in our writing.
